Boat? Hike? Picnic? Here’s how we recommend doing Balos like a local
Spoiler: more than a workshop…
Sometimes you don’t need to disappear from everyday life for an entire week to reconnect with yourself.
Sometimes, a few intentionally designed hours are enough to slow down, move differently, breathe more deeply and leave feeling noticeably different from when you arrived.
This was the idea that came to life during Yoga with Love, a Day Retreat hosted at Infinity Wellness in Afrata, Crete.
Decades of experience, shared personally
The retreat was guided by Miri and Gili Haruvi, yoga teachers with around four decades of experience and an infectious sense of curiosity, humour and joy.
Participants ranged from their 40s to their 70s and beyond, with different bodies, abilities and levels of yoga experience.
Rather than asking everyone to fit into one practice, the practice was adapted to them.
The first part of the retreat explored the foundations of Ashtanga Yoga. Even experienced practitioners can benefit from returning to these essential principles, and Miri and Gili combined detailed instruction with humour, warmth and ease.
Why small groups matter
As the physical practice began, the value of keeping the retreat intimate became clear.
While one teacher guided the group, the other moved between participants, observing their practice and offering individual adjustments and guidance.
Then they changed roles.
It created a rhythm in which participants could experience the energy of practicing together without losing personal attention.
For us, this is one of the most important elements of the retreat experience we want to create at Infinity.
Small groups make space for real connection.
From deep rest to joyful movement
Following the practice, the group settled into a long, peaceful Savasana.
Rather than simply ending there, Miri gently brought everyone back into movement.
What began close to the ground gradually moved into sitting, then standing, and finally transformed into Yoga Dance: free, uplifting movement that filled the rooftop with a completely different energy.
The practice ended with a sharing circle.
Participants spoke about feeling better, freer and more mobile in their bodies than when they arrived.
For us, that feeling sits at the heart of Infinity Wellness: creating experiences that genuinely contribute to people’s physical and emotional wellbeing.
And then, we stayed together
The experience continued beyond the rooftop.
Everyone moved downstairs to the pool, where tables were waiting with chilled watermelon, melon and grapes, nuts, dried fruits and small treats.
Alongside them were our infused waters, prepared with herbs from the Infinity garden: lemon verbena, lemongrass, mint, marjoram, fresh lemon and more.
People stayed. Talked. Ate. Cooled down. Connected.
Because sometimes the moments after a practice are just as important as the practice itself.
A home for retreats in Crete
Yoga with Love helped us put a name to something we want to create much more of at Infinity:
Day Retreats.
An experience can last a day, or it can unfold over several days. What matters to us is not simply its length, but its depth.
Our intimate setting allows retreat leaders to work with smaller groups, create personal connections and build experiences in which participants can truly be seen.
Infinity Wellness offers a rooftop practice space surrounded by the landscape of Crete, accommodation for longer retreats, poolside areas, wellness facilities and the opportunity to shape an experience around the people attending.
And now we want to meet the people who can bring these spaces to life.
If you are a yoga or Pilates teacher, wellness facilitator, therapist, meditation or breathwork teacher, workshop leader or retreat host, and you have an experience you would love to bring to Crete, we’d love to explore it with you.
You bring your knowledge, your approach and your community.
Together, we create the retreat.
